About us

Disaster Geoinformatics Laboratory

At the Disaster Geoinformatics Laboratory (ReGiD), part of Tohoku University's International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), we develop new frameworks for detecting and assessing disaster impacts. By combining real-time computing, damage and loss estimation models, and remote sensing, our central mission in geoinformatics is to strengthen disaster response, relief, and humanitarian efforts — delivering actionable information on where disasters strike and the severity of their impacts.
